Warhammer
Ancients
Is
another version of the Warhammer family. In this set of books you command the armies of the Ancient world and do battle old
school. Whether your a Legionnaire or Phalanx man all are catered for and with such a huge range and depth no army is every
the same.If you like the simplicty of Warhammer but the historical side of wargaming this game is for you!
Flames Of War
Is a massive
15mm WW2 game developed by Battlefront (NZ).It is based around Company level games but easily usuable if you've got the
space for multiply company games. In the last 5 years the game has grown into one of the world's biggest following historical
games. At the CWC neraly everyone at some point has had one if not more armies and most still have them. The rules are simple
and their are also many alternative periods in time using their rules because they are so easily adapted.
Rank
and File
Recently the club has invested in this ruleset designed by Crusader Publishing to allow us to play quick play American
Civil War and Napoleonics (possibly).Rank and File are a set of horse and musket rules that cover the
period from 1740 through to 1900. The basic game mechanics are designed to be simple and easy to learn with the aim of being
able to play large games within a reasonable time frame. While
the game itself is easy to pick up there are extensive optional and advanced rules as well as period specific rules that allow
the game to cater for all tastes as well as being flexible enough to cope with lots of game sizes, scales, figure availability
and numbers of players. While the basic D6 mechanics make Rank and File a 'fast play' system that doesn’t mean
that important areas of the rules are glossed over or omitted
Great War
Is a game based on Warhammer
40,000 but with one big difference- their are no space marines. It is set during the First World War and although people remember
the battles for bloody slaughters the rules allow you to have better tactics than were used at the time( despite them being
available) It is a truly good game and one I expect to be BIG
Wings of War
Wings of War is a game series which merges card and
board game mechanics to recreate aerial combat. The first series of Wings of War games focus on the "knights of the air" age,
World War I, portraying the abilities of the fighting planes of this period
War uses an innovative card-based movement mechanic.
By selecting from his maneuver deck, each player can plot out the loops, rolls, and twists that his dogfighting plane will
undertake. Each plane has a specific maneuver deck with its own unique options, so you'll fly differently from game to game.
Outwit and outmaneuver your opponent, and you will reap the rewards
Blitzkrieg Commander, Warmaster Ancients,
Warmaster Fantasy
Warmaster,WarmasterAncients,BlitzkriegCommanderand ColdWarCommander are all related games, in that
the first one inspired the other three. There are also Medieval, English Civil
War and Napoleonic variants available. The key feature of these games is command and control, rather than how good or bad units
are. This means that the player has to be able to cope with the fact that his troops may not do want he wants, when he wants!
They are all fairly easy and quick to learn, but take a few games to appreciate the subtleties, and to get used to not being
so concerned with the abilities of units. I have yet to have a game of BKC that I haven’t enjoyed (and I have yet to
win one!)
They capture the grand scale of battles – in Warmaster
and Warmaster Ancients you are commanding whole armies, and in BKC/CWC you are commanding regiments or battalions.
