Hot off the Press...
(Recent news at Top)

Bovington
That time of the year is fast approaching (5th/6th July) and i wanted to remind those that haven't if your interested in going this year to get hold of Mike and hand in your forms as soon as possible please as we only have limited spaces.
This years Board is looking great ( ED- especially the plantation) so i expect another cracking weekend of gaming and drinking.

As a result of the weekend ahead the club will not be open on Monday the 7th of July

The Club
Is working hard to finish its part of the Bovington Pirates Gaming table in coalition with Portbury Knights gaming club, it already has a jungle with mud huts, port, plantation and manor house. This years board looks set to be impressive to look at aswell as interesting to play on. Thanks to those that have helped create it.
ED- especially Rachael and Dave

Congratulations

To Toby for getting engaged to his girlfriend Hayley

To Rachael, Dave and Portbury for getting our pirate board for Bovington completed.
ED - and others who helped

To Sedge for winning Pompey Pillage 2008

Warhammer Historical

Some members of the Warchiefs have decided to collect the English Civil War period of the games system. So soon we'll be seeing brother against brother and gamer against gamer in the CWC. Looks like we've already got a few Royalists and Parliamentarians already but games are unlikely to happen until the end of 2008 and beginning 2009 as so many gamers have huge backlogs of systems their currently collecting and waiting to buy.

New Edition of Warhammer 40,000

Look out for new edition of Warhammer 40,000 in July 2008 in your local Games Workshops. The new editon is Rumoured to allow much more flexiblity in battles by allowing tanks to move and shoot, combat to be based almost like fantasy now and the use of "TRUE LINE OF SIGHT"
( Their will be a review of this rulebook on this website when the book is released)

Fanatic and Specialists games

Games workshop have been recently been doing a huge web relaunch with fanatic being intergrated into this instead of the current
system (being less obvious to find and being left on the back burner).
They now have also begun redoing the range and also adding old classics so in July you'll be able to buy booster packs and other models for your specialist games so you can actually buy some and these packs will be made of 4 models in each pack aswell as a goblin secret weapons booster pack for goblin teams.
Their is no specialist games forums anymore as there will be no more specialist games website but their are others on the general web, also no more updates on the specialist site becasue the website is being deleted in the future.

Website

New assistant to Website production- Scotty is now helping Andy in his Stirling work on the Website.
Just to mention please send us you articles, pic anything so we can update your! website else we might not aswell have one. Simple really ( in the nicest way)

Future events
Work is ongoing for the rest of this year for big events and campaigns within the club. So far their is a Warhammer Tournament, a large FOW game based around the easter front, a warmaster ancients campaign and a Napoleonics Campaign all being planned. If this wasn't enough you can look forward to a possible warhammer campaign, the end of the year overall club champion and the final results in our Blood Bowl 2008 season.
ED- alot of these are ideas at the moment although we have managed to find some dates and book the so theirs goign to be alot of planning for the next few months.

Napoleonic Flames of War
I've added loads of new rules and given more options to the armies. They are already on the download section for you to have a look at.

The new "Theater of war" documents will now be based on giving you new army rules, units and scenarios rather than new army lists although these will still be inlcuded such as the Spanish.

Bovington

As you all know Bovi is only a few months away and we need to get ready so El Presidente has asked me to have anyone wishing to go this year to fill in this form and e-mail to him at the following address

In addition to this form Mike will also be bringing some to Club for people to fill out so we can organised and get the right numbers we need to cater for.

Events

Tales of future events are buzzing round the air at the moment with a warmaster ancients campaign and warhammer tournament expected at the end of the summer so get your armies ready for those also their has been alot work by some members to organise a few large games after the cricket season involvingt he likes of Waterloo and Kursk to name a few so look like a busy end to the year for the Warchiefs

Bovinginton Tank Museum 2008
Bovington tank museum plans for 5 & 6 July  2008, well well well, after a very successful Bovi 07, where we all can say we had a cracking time. Plans need to be put in place to make sure that this year is a fun if not more fun than last year, most likely see Sedge in a dress again!!

After a lot of work by Rachel last year and last weekend at Penarth we are still on course to do a joint venture this year with the Portbury Knights on a large scale Pirate participation board. The guys at Battlegroup South who run Bovington each year are on board (so to speak) and really keen for us to do this.

Good news is that the guys from Portbury all ready have the baseboards made (for a previous game they played) and the rest of the work has been shared out eaqually between the 2 clubs, with Portbury requesting that we do the more fine detail stuff as were much better at it than they are.

So as far as I know and I am ready to be corrected on this one, CWC needs to make a rocky outcrop for a lookout tower to stand on, a few more houses / taverns etc (about 3 or 4) and a beach area coming up to a jungle area (many palm trees are on order). And that’s all Portbury are doing the Tower, Boats and a desert island, this is all great as it keeps the cost down for the club, especially as the last two years myself and one or two others have paid for all the scenery boards and keeps the time required down and with the impending Warmachine tournament time is of a premium.

Right rules set and if by magic the good old boys at Warhammer ancients have just released a new book called ‘The High Seas’ which is a pirate skirmish game very similar to the Cowboy game we have been playing and requires each pirate crew to be about 10 men strong, so not a big outlay for each member. We have a copy of the book, which will be available for peeps to have a look at on Monday nights.

Now I’m gonna put some rules down for attendance this year. As we will be in the main hall this time round I need to put a few attendance requirements in place and these are.

  1. Places will be available for up to 12 people from the club
  2. People who help with the scenery or paint a pirate gang get priority over other club members
  3. Regular club members get priority over non regular club members
  4. People who enter into the spirit of the weekend (i.e get dressed up in some pirate outfit and drink lots of rum) will also get priority.

Sorry to sound like a dictatorship but that’s the way it is and that’s the way it’s gonna be so tough titties!!!

Any comments or thoughts give us a shout.
